Robb LaKritz, whose professional background includes work as an advisor to the United States Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, currently serves as a co-partner at LaKritz Adler Development in Washington, DC. Co-founded with Mr. LaKritz’ former Treasury Department colleague Josh Adler in 2003, the real estate development company has concluded a number of high-profile deals, including the 2014 record-breaking sale of the Dupont Circle Starbucks building at 1501 Connecticut Avenue NW. Robb LaKritz and his business partner earned close to $1,700 per square foot for the property in the highest recorded total amount paid for a retail property in the history of the DC area. The pair purchased the historic property for $4.1 million in 2010, then carefully restored it before selling it to Harbor Group International in the $16.25 million transaction.
The building, whose popular name derives from its anchor tenant, is in fact the site of the first-ever Starbucks outlet east of the Mississippi River. The almost 10,000-square foot building offers additional space to other commercial tenants. According to the Calkain Companies, which brokered the deal, the availability of the property generated intense international interest from potential investors.
