As head of LaKritz Adler Development, LLC, Robb LaKritz directs a full range of investment, renovation, and management activities focused on Washington, DC. In 2013, Robb LaKritz initiated a joint venture with the First Baptist Church of Silver Spring involving the acquisition and redevelopment of a two-acre property in the heart of a growing DC suburb.
Situated at Fenton Street and Wayne Avenue, the First Baptist Church was built in 1956 and will make way for a retail-and-residential building. The planned development encompasses retail space totaling 19,000 square feet and nearly 260 apartment units. As part of the project, a new Baptist church building, including a daycare center, will be built on an adjoining property.
Undertaken in tandem with Grosvenor Americas, the project reflects Silver Spring’s emergence as one of the most dynamic submarkets in the region. Its potential on the Red Line Metro’s eastern side is compared with the vibrant Rosslyn-Ballston corridor and in-demand locations such as Court House and Clarendon. In 2015, demolition began on the church, a signal that the entitled project was moving forward at full steam.
